My positive response to God’s call to preach the Gospel came during my first year at Wake Forest College – 1955-56. Following seven years of preparation at Wake Forest College and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, my preaching ministry was fulfilled as I served as pastor for six years in Oxford, N.C., ten years as pastor in Thomasville, N.C. and while serving in several positions on the staff of Baptist Children’s Homes of N.C. for twenty-six years. Meaningful preaching requires divine inspiration, intense study, and prayer which I define as two-way communication with God. My preaching professor advised us to spend at least two hours preparing for each minute preaching! Therefore, many hours have gone into preparing, preaching and refining these messages. My prayer is that Almighty God will bless all who hear or read these sermons as much as He has blessed me in the preparation and the preaching.
